Ep. #19 Holistic Health and Dealing with Chronic Pain w/ Dr. Tracy Debi

Dr. Tracy Debi is a former holistic chiropractor turned intuitive guide & mentor for purposeful living. She is an entrepreneur, podcaster, coach, and healer. In this episode, Dr. Tracy and I discuss what it means to treat patients holistically – as a whole human being. The current model for patient treatment tends to primarily focus on treating conditions, diseases, or symptoms as isolated issues rather than treating the whole person. Through her own experience of dealing with, and overcoming, chronic back pain and in her work treating patients, Tracy has discovered that ‘physical’ pain is often connected to a person’s psychological and emotional state. This is to say that as human beings, we exist as biopsychosocial creatures and we ought to receive treatment that incorporates all the facets of a person’s life. Our minds and bodies are intimately connected and so challenges in one area of life usually also affect all other areas. Moreover, psychological difficulties relating to trauma, identity, and subconscious belief systems often manifest as physical pain in recognizable and definitive patterns. By exploring and integrating a variety of treatment modalities, Tracy has helped countless patients find relief from their pain, gain new insights into themselves, and ultimately find greater peace and success in life.

74: Reflecting Self Expression, The Place of No Effort & Everything Being a Choice Spirit of Success

It’s that time of the month again for a reflection episode! These reflections are inspired by my teaching Thursday episodes, as well as my interviews from this season. In taking the time to reflect on my own movement from knowledge to wisdom, I’m able to explore how to best share my experiences so that you can also benefit in your own movement forward. Here are the three themes that this episode explores (and listen out for how the themes explore each other – these ones especially are very interconnected!) as well as some questions around them that you can ask yourself: AUTHENTICITY & SELF EXPRESSION – Do you understand the uniqueness of your own soul print? Who are you, really, at your core? How can you honor the inner seed of who you are? Doing the work means understanding who you are, and being your most authentic self in any situation or moment. Being vulnerable allows you to unlock the next layer of yourself, and allows you to simply be, in the place of no effort (see, I told you they’re all connected!) As a society we need to get back to our authentic selves – as people, as businesses, as social media users…as the seeds that we are at our very cores. If you don’t know who you are, how can you help yourself make the best decisions? Or even, any decisions at all. Authenticity is a need that must be met – it’s a seed that requires nurturing, but that requires time, guidance, and care. It’s a lot of hard work, but thankfully that’s what coaches are for! THE PLACE OF NO EFFORT – Are you comfortable with yourself? Have you ever been powerfully and instantly drawn to someone without knowing why? Do you wake up telling yourself a story about how life is supposed to be hard? There are some people who, when you meet them, they are just easy – they are easy to communicate with, to know, and to openly share energy with. But you need to know who you are and stand in your truth, in order to be able to meet someone in that place of no effort. The reason those amazing, lightning-bolt-of-knowing meetings feel strange is because we spend so much time not occupying the present moment that when you manage to break back through to the place of no effort, it feels really amazing. One of the best learning tools is contrast – the place of no effort exists, and you’ve experienced it, but it doesn’t need to be a one-off. That place can be all the time, and your life can exist in the place of no effort. I am an example of a transformation from life being hard, to being effortless – but you need to be your authentic self, and stand in the truth that everything is a choice (ah ha, there’s that connection again!)  EVERYTHING IS A CHOICE – Do you live in the wisdom that everything is a choice? Are you open to the idea that you could be choosing better for yourself? Whether it be conscious, or unconscious – everything is a choice. Putting things off because they feel uncomfortable are just subconscious habits that we’ve formed; after all, not making a choice is still a choice. You need to be personally responsible for your own choices, because they are what make us who we are. Reversing the choices that don’t serve you and stepping into new choices that do can feel really uncomfortable – I know, because I did that back-and-forth myself for a long time. But eventually, it changes. Once you’re able to take personal responsibility and embrace the wobbliness of that discomfort, you’re able to move through it and make different choices that are aligned with what you actually want. Wisdom means doing, too – not just knowing. If you know someone that could benefit from hearing this episode, please share it with them. And if you are seeking guidance or help, please reach out to me. You change the world by changing yourself first – I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learned so that you can help yourself, too.
