Ep. #59 Animism, Astrology, Evolution and Soul Ecology w/ Marga Laube

Marga Laube

All my work is narrative. I translate the language of the earth and the planets. I offer stories for healing. I guide souls on their true path, through the weaving of narratives.

A counselling astrologer for over twenty years, and a mystic at heart, I have supported thousands of people across the threshold of their transformation. I am a lifelong apprentice to the Earth, interpreting emerging stories as told by the physical world.

I work with people who are in a conscious relationship with their own evolution.

CREDENTIALS:

I have been immersed in the ancient system of yoga since 1992. I actively apprenticed with my Vedic astrology teacher, James Kelleher, for four years in the early 2000s, and hold both Jyotish Visharada (proficiency/counselling) and Jyotish Kovid (excellence/ teaching) certifications with the Council of Vedic Astrology.

Aware that at the heart of the jyotishi’s service is the skillset of a counsellor, I have completed dozens of training in individual and group facilitation and counselling, including, most notably, professional training in individual psychological shadow work with Robert Masters, Ph.D.; group, systemic constellation facilitation with Ursula Franke and Thomas Bryson in Munich, Germany; individual and group breathwork facilitation with David Elliott; ULab with Otto Scharmer and the Presencing Institute; ongoing personal study with Dr. Daniel Foor in Ancestral Medicine and Animist Psychology; personal study with the Rooted community in healing racial trauma through Resmaa Menakem’s work; and ongoing training with Thomas Hübl in Principles of Collective Trauma Healing.

I have been a student of Siddha Yoga since 1992, and a student of Adyashanti since 2001.

I have also had a lifelong passion for storytelling, media publishing, and filmmaking, and joyfully bring these skills to my practice of the sacred, esoteric arts.

Marga Laube has been a counselling astrologer for over twenty years, providing navigation guidance for “Agents of Evolution,” blending astrology with the wisdom of multiple animist and eco-whispered sources. As an author, educator, and expressive storyteller, Marga aims to catalyze our collective evolution. Marga holds advanced certifications with the Council of Vedic Astrology, and her work is informed by formal training in collective trauma healing, psychological shadow work, racial trauma healing, systemic constellation facilitation, ancestral medicine, and animist psychology.

In this episode, Marga and I discuss how we might approach understanding collective evolution using the frameworks of animist psychology and astrology. We discuss the archetypal evolutionary journeys, and how understanding our own pathway can provide insight into managing change. By exploring the evolutionary impulse within us, we can begin to understand how these impulses seek expression through the contents and manifestations of our lives. Furthermore, by examining the spiritual essence of ourselves and the universe, we begin to gain a broader appreciation and love for all things in life. Ultimately, we must uncover and form a deep and true connection to our true selves – our essence; and, by transforming ourselves we can transform the world.

Ep. #58 Being Human is Weird w/ Anton Czachor

Ep. #57 A Pathway To Inside: Tapping Into Emotional Freedom from the Inside Out w/ Ann Hince

Ann Hince

Ann Hince is an author, healer, and public speaker.

Ann Hince is an author, healer, and public speaker.  In this episode, Ann and I discuss the power of focused attention. Specifically, the healing power of focusing your attention on your inner body. Most of us have spent our lives repressing a variety of thoughts and emotions that we believe are too painful to deal with. These thoughts and emotions, however, do not simply go away; instead, they are often stored in various parts of our body – often the parts that are closely associated with the particular event. These storages build up over time and begin to affect our everyday mood and function. While we are mostly not conscious of their influence, these storages do affect how we experience and interact with the world. By spending time and energy working on releasing these stored tensions, we can begin a process of healing and revitalization. This process elicits extraordinary changes in both your mental and physical wellbeing.

Ann walks us through how she uses insight (i.e., interoceptive awareness) and the EFT/Tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique) methods to uncover and release physical tension, trapped memories and stored emotions. Ann’s remarkable journey has led her to heal from a lifetime of trauma and emotional and physical tension, and to inspire and encourage others to do the same through sharing the techniques she uses on a daily basis.

The second element of this discussion revolves around how we relate to the world, and how what we feel affects what we experience. Ann explains that each person is constantly emitting a signal/vibration – a message to the universe that says “This is the way I am feeling now, please give me more reasons to feel this way”. To change what we are experiencing in life,  we need to change the signal we are emitting, and to do this requires us to release the stored tension that is subconsciously affecting our signal.

The eventual goal of these awareness practices is to achieve inner peace, a quietened mind, and a persisting sense of wellbeing and connectedness. When we are able to release the things holding us back, we are free to live a more fulfilling, peaceful life that is filled with joy, harmony, and light.

Ep. #56 An Exploration Into Mindfulness-Based Coaching w/ David Frank Gomes

David Frank Gomes

David Gomes is a Mindfulness teacher, coach and mentor. He offers a thoughtful effective coaching approach for living an impactful, thoughtful & productive life. The wisdom of mindfulness transformed into practical formulas for daily living.

David Gomes is a Mindfulness teacher, coach and mentor. He offers a thoughtful effective coaching approach for living an impactful, thoughtful & productive life. The wisdom of mindfulness transformed into practical formulas for daily living.

In this Episode, David and I discuss the intricacies of mindful-based coaching. For David, the intersection of mindfulness and modern coaching offers people the best approach to “transform ancient wisdom into practical formulas for living well”. David’s unique approach integrates the transformative power of mindfulness with a modern coaching program to help people find a way of life that promotes well-being, productivity, and purpose. For many of us it is difficult to rise above the grind, to find a way to live a more fulfilling life, and to create an overall sense of wellness in life. David’s methodology is designed to inspire you to grow, keep moving forwards and purposefully create a better existence.

“Mindfulness is change on the inside.  It’s reflective. Coaching is change on the outside. It’s action.” – David Frank Gomes

Through a guided discovery of one’s values, goals, skills, and dreams, David works to inspire, mentor, and support you on your journey to break through patterns that are holding you back into a world of fulfillment.

“All of us are on a treasure hunt to find happiness. Some are obvious, like money, a job we enjoy, healthy relationships and getting what we want. Some are less obvious, like purpose, meaning and a sense of fulfillment and inner peace. We need a balance of both if we want to experience a joyful, significant life.” – David Frank Gomes

Ep. #55 The Power of Intentional Gratitude w/ Deborah Hawkins

Deborah Hawkins

“STORY OF NO SMALL THING”

“I want to share the No Small Thing story with you.

In deciding to start this gratitude practice, I found inspiration in Eckhart Tolle’s words, “Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.” When I started writing about things from my daily life that I appreciated, I quickly came to understand several important things.”

I had brighter moods because I felt engaged with life. I was always looking for things to write about. Things that made my life easier, more pleasurable or more meaningful were all around me. I just had to set my intention on noticing them.

I didn’t need to experience a big event in order to feel grateful. The feeling, not the degree, was what mattered. (This is what’s behind the blog’s name, “No Small Thing.”) After re-reading my first few years of blog posts, I noticed that I tended to write about a handful of themes, the underlying essence of why I felt grateful in those circumstances.”

No Small Thing Blog & Website

Deborah Hawkins started blogging on mindfulness and gratitude as a way to work herself out of depression. She has posted reflections on everyday things or experiences that lift her mood on nosmallthing.net almost every week since 2010. She has developed an “intentional” approach to a gratitude practice that is empowering, authentic, and fun. Through her blog. books, and classes, she provides tools people can employ to lead happier lives.

In this episode, Deb and I discuss the power of intentional gratitude, how it helped her out of dark times, and how she uses these techniques to help other people who are also suffering. Gratitude is one of the most powerful tools one can use to boost mood, raise levels of general life satisfaction, and overall promote a healthier life. Gratitude helps us connect with powerful positive emotions such as love, happiness, joy, and appreciation – all of which are essential components of a joyful life. Gratitude also helps us connect with the universe outside of ourselves – when we are grateful, we connect with each other, with nature, and with life itself.

Taking time out of your day to practice gratitude, and it is best when we make it into a regular practice, can be a powerful tool of transformation. Deb shares with us that it is often best to start off with things that might be considered ‘small’, but actually are the foundation for a much deeper practice.

By taking the time to practice mindful gratitude, we can begin to transform the way we think and therefore the way we see the world. Our minds are powerful tools that shape our perceived reality according to our belief systems. By intentionally changing our default mode of interpretation to one of gratitude, we can change our overall sense of being in the world to one of joy, appreciation, and love. Although it can be a gradual process, it is a powerful transformative tool.

Ep. #54 Physicians Working With Energy w/ Dr Catherine Uram, MD

Dr. Catherine Uram, MD

Dr. Catherine Uram, MD is an integrative medicine specialist, Reiki Master, and Spiritual Healer. Catherine Uram, MD helps you transform with spiritual energy, so you can contribute to a peaceful evolution of humanity. She practiced as a highly experienced physician in conventional + alternative modalities, has been engaged with sacred healing practices from around the globe, and now works where she can be of the deepest service— with the underlying spiritual energy of life, assisting your growth + transformation.

“My practice working with energy changes over time. With energy healing, the nervous system calms down, heart rate and blood pressure decrease, and people have greater clarity. So for a while, I would use hands-on healing with people to bring people into this state, and they would tell me where their ailments came from and what needed to occur to heal. This was phenomenally effective and empowering for the patient. I am now finding that you don’t even need to use your hands to do this, that purely by connecting with the energy and holding space for people, their own healing will unfold.

I have found that energy healing is an entire life path, a path of the heart. If you have an inkling of curiosity, it could be calling you to something greater and could open up your life for the tremendous benefit of yourself and others.” Dr Catherine Uram

We walk as one, listening to the beating heart, allowing the unconscious to be conscious, and life to stream through us, evolving peacefully for the sake of all there is.” – Dr. Catherine Uram

In this episode, Catherine and I discuss her journey and experience of integrating modern medicine with traditional/ancient forms of energy healing. Although the final goal of modern medicine and energy healing is the same, i.e. to relieve distressing symptoms and promote health and vitality, the methods are very different but can actually be integrated. Whether a patient goes to see a physician or an energy healer, whatever the reason for the consultation, the desired goal is the same – to heal themselves and feel better.

Focusing on the heart and its power, we learn how simple heart-centred meditation can rapidly transform the body and promote healing. Catherine explains how important well-balanced heart energy is to overall health and vitality. Attuning to your heart has been known to traditional healers for thousands of years, and modern medicine is, in many ways, now starting to realize this. The body has a phenomenal self-healing ability, and we can have access to this healing if we connect/attune with our heart energy. Beyond the physical, the spiritual benefits of a balanced heart are limitless. Attuning to your heart allows us to connect with Universal Love, the source energy of the whole universe, in order to live happily, grow deeply, and transform perfectly.

You see, my mission, my passion and my purpose is to help you realize four essential truths:

1. You are not crazy, but you may have developed some unhealthy patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving as a result of early life experiences.

2. You are not your story. Historical events and the interpretations and beliefs of other people in your life, each with their own pain and stories, have nothing to do with the truth of who you are as a Divine expression of the energy that created you.

3. You did not create the situations or circumstances that caused you mental, emotional, physical or spiritual pain and left you believing that you are unlovable, undeserving, shameful or insignificant. You are not responsible for the things that happened to you or in your family.

4. You can heal the wounded parts of yourself, break free from the inner critic and self-saboteur and create an authentic, purposeful and joyful life.”

Ep. #44 Neuromodulation, Neuroplasticity, & Peak Performance Training w/ Toby Pasman

Toby Pasman is the founder of Roscoe’s Wetsuit Neuro and host of the Roscoe’s Wetsuit Neuro Podcast. He is a neurophysiology researcher with a Master’s of Psychology from Lynn University and is board-certified in QEEG Brain Mapping and EEG Neurofeedback. Toby enjoys paddle boarding along the intercoastal, biking through the surrounding islands of Miami, and engaging in deep, intellectual conversations.

In this episode, Toby and I discuss some of the latest neuromodulation technologies and how they can be used for healing and for cognitive optimization – training to reach peak cognitive performance. The field of neuroscience is an amazing blossoming field of study, and out of it have come various technologies, techniques, and strategies that people can use to understand their neurophysiology (and how it affects and interacts with the rest of their physiology) and utilize these technologies to treat disorders and optimize performance. Some of the neuromodulation technologies include QEEG Brain Mapping, EEG Neurofeedback, Transcranial Stimulation, Audio-Visual Entrainment, and Brain Photobiomodulation.

“The discovery of neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to rewire itself throughout our entire lifetime, and recent breakthroughs in neurotechnology have enabled us to now measure and modulate the electrical and chemical activity of neurons (brain cells) to improve focus, sharpen attention, improve mood, deepen sleep, and decrease neural inflammation.”  – Toby Pasman

Toby Pasman is a neurophysiology researcher who graduated from the University of Oregon in 2018 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and completed his Master’s of Psychology through Lynn University in 2021. He worked on the Emotions and Neuroplasticity Project at the Brain Development Lab at his university, learning how emotions relate to changes in key brain networks.

Toby got curious about whether he could hack his own brain and began experimenting with neurotechnology including neurofeedback and neurostimulation to work on his own social anxiety. He noticed great improvements in his verbal fluency and ability to stay relaxed in social situations.

Toby began working at a peak performance facility outside of Seattle, Washington, training high profile CEOs, professional athletes, and Hollywood actors, who were looking to maximize their brain performance, recording QEEG brain maps and utilizing neurofeedback and neurostimulation technology.

Toby has since worked in the substance abuse and mental health fields, utilizing QEEG brain mapping, neurofeedback, neurostimulation, and PEMF therapy to treat patients clinically. He trained under Dr. Nicholas Dogris, CEO of Neurofield Neurotherapy, learning extensively about applying various forms of neurostimulation to enhance brain performance.

Toby is currently training to become an accredited human potential coach through the Human Potential Institute.

Ep. #42 Sober Powered: The Science of Addiction and Recovery w/ Gill Tietz

Gill Tietz a sober scientist who specializes in addiction science and psychology, and is the host of the Sober Powered Podcast. In this episode, Gill and I discuss her journey of sobriety, the science of alcoholism and addiction, and how Gill now spends time studying addiction in order to help other people who are going through the same thing.

For Gill, “Being Sober Powered is all about being your own champion. We hold on to our drinking with all of our strength, but eventually something happens to propel us into sobriety.  It could be something small even, but we all have our limit.  When I got sober, I was the only sober person I knew.  Each time I got through something sober, I felt stronger, and I called that strength Sober Power. I believe we can all develop our own Sober Power, and use it to change our lives.” Gill Provides people with education, inspiration, and hope in their recovery journey.

Gill Tietz

I’m Gill, and I’m the host and creator of the Sober Powered Podcast. I got sober in 2019 because alcohol caused the complete destruction of my mental health. Now, I teach what I’ve learned about why it’s so hard to stop drinking, why alcohol makes us so miserable, and how to embrace sobriety.

I spent 5 years dedicated to learning how to moderate my drinking. I researched moderation tirelessly and tried every strategy I could think of. No matter how bad things got for me, I always believed I could learn to moderate if I just had enough practice. Things continued to escalate until my drinking scared me enough to stop. I want to help you accept sobriety sooner than I did, so you don’t have to spend any more time being stuck in the drink, hate yourself, drink cycle.

Being Sober Powered is all about being your own champion

We hold on to our drinking with all of our strength, but eventually something happens to propel us into sobriety. It could be something small even, but we all have our limit. When I got sober, I was the only sober person I knew. Each time I got through something sober, I felt stronger, and I called that strength Sober Power.

I believe we can all develop our own Sober Power, and use it to change our lives.
